ITI is a technology centre specialising in Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I) in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), with the aim of generating knowledge and technologies that address the needs of industry and society and can be effectively transferred to the market, thereby creating a positive impact on the economy.

With a team of more than 340 technologists, including researchers and technical specialists, ITI focuses its R&D activities on the acquisition, communication and exploitation of data in a robust, secure and efficient manner, supporting decision-making across a wide range of application domains, including industry, healthcare, tourism, mobility and agri-food systems, among others.

More specifically, the acquisition of information from the environment through multiple sensing modalities (such as audio, video and tactile data), together with its communication, storage, processing and visualisation, applied to humanoid robotic platforms, constitutes one of the centre’s current and future strategic areas of work. This research is conducted with a strong emphasis on operational quality, safety and security, whilst also facilitating effective human-robot interaction, offering considerable potential for future development and impact.
